Tempest v Rural Payments Agency Tribunal Thread 7

Previous thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5551375-tempest-v-rural-payments-agency-tribunal-thread-6

TT substack: tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/tempest-vs-defra-and-rural-payments

Tempest (a TW) is claiming discrimination, harassment and/or victimisation on grounds of gender reassignment. Central to the claim is the existence of the Sex Equality and Equity Network in the Civil Service (SEEN). SEEN has been granted right to intervene. Parts of the original claim against the co-chair of SEEN (Elspeth Duemmer-Wrigley) and another party (Andreas Mueller) were struck out or narrowed. Another claimant, PQ, is no longer part of the case.

Please note that Elspeth still has a garden in need of seeds and water to support the ability of SEEN to be an intervenor in this case. The claim originated because she said "only women menstruate" and a search with her name and those terms at the usual gardening website should point you to her plot.

CA We moved to position where people were not allowed to distribute Yammer posts externally

that sounds like a reasonable response - what happens on Y stays on Y. And it's replacement.
That was not clearly in force when the MN 'leak' happened, so nothing could be done about it like trying to get IT to work out who had taken the screenshot and sent it to MN.

But I don't mind if we don't get to read any more internal DEFRA antics on MN, we've got a good view of it from the evidence at the tribunal🙄

I think please kindly fuck the fuck off to the far side of fuck hits all the right notes. Maybe add an in all kindness if you think it needs the edge taken off.

😂

I don’t think screenshots were taken, @MarieDeGournay

I've just noticed the show all seems to have disappeared today. Did mnhq see sense?

It came back briefly for me this morning!!!!

I only had a patchy phone signal last week, but can anybody tell me what the issue was with the Mumsnet thread?

Was it something like "I work for DEFRA and there is this trans person who...."

[Also, what is the "show all" thingy on Mnet; should I feel deprived or have I just not clicked the right buttons?]

WomanInnaWoods · Today 13:21

@madcats every single post was suddenly spoilered for length! Terrible idea that gave the ghost quickly.

Wait, maybe now the board is haunted by said ghost.

it was bleed-through from the upside-down; all longer posts were truncated and you had to click to expand them. Something implemented in an evil alternate universe.

Truncate long quote histories | Mumsnet

I keep meaning to ask for this! I use the quote history feature a lot - but it gets ridiculous after 10 quotes. Apart from the extremely long scrollin...

Tras are obsessed with MN. It's the only reason they knew it was discussed here because they're always trying to police us. It could also have been discussed on any number of other forums but they wouldn't have known because they didn't care to look.

MyAmpleSheep · Today 13:24

Wasn’t quotes; it was original text of posts.

Hedgehogsrightsarehumanrights · Today 13:24

Well the responses on her to the MN line of questioning made me laugh.

HH - felt like a wandering spotlight that landed on Mrs O today, got images of the SS with spotlights as we all hide under rocks!!!!

Just linked it so people could see MNHQ response at the end of the thread.

I presume many of the traliban at the CS are looking at Mumsnet, and being very concerned, distressed and disgusted that any space and quarter is given to ‘the monstrous regiment of women’. How very dare women think (and even discuss) that we can say no to men’s wishes (and complete fuckery) to trample all over our rights.

Outside of the puerile warbling of HH on ‘someone said that someone should take a screenshot’ (my paraphrasing and take). Turns out someone also said not to do that. No evidence it was even someone in the CS. This is beyond anything you would have thought would be going in 2026. And yet, here we are.

edited to add bit about paraphrasing.

murasaki · Today 13:31

Well given FWS, it's no surprise they're running scared of MN. Good.

Agreed. And if TRA wanted a warm glow they could go to The Civil Service Reddit were a bunch of alleged CS were decrying SEEN. No thoughts about doxxing them of course. Multiple threads e.g.

ickky · Today 13:42

WOW So civil servants of the GI variety are/were posting screenshots on external websites from Yammer.

They always accuse others of what they are doing themselves. Fuckers.

HH Inviting discussion not going to foster good relations

Seriously? How the fuck does society progress if no one is willing to talk about things that may make some people uncomfortable? She is representing a grown adult not a fucking toddler.

Is this not what free speech is for?

A question for the observers, when they are able to do so, but does CA have the patience of a saint or is she beginning to sound a little impatient?

"And this was how she spent the last bit of her working life for about 18 months? What a nightmare to finish your career on".
And even worse for you to discover that you are being dragged back to be cross examined by HH for hours and hours and hours

CA has maintained a completely neutral, measured tone throughout x-exam. As a lawyer, she knows 'how it works'. Her comment about the effect on her was delivered as a weary statement of fact without bitterness or self-pity.

She says in her WS that the final two years were the toughest of her career in EDI. And I don't suppose her retirement has been much fun with this case bubbling away in the background.

Has anyone got a link to the thread they're arguing about?

I believe Jane Russell referred to Mumsnet as a 'nest of vipers' at some point during the Peggie tribunal. Not sure it was during the hearing, may have been during case management or a little spat at the end of the day. So many potential images.....
