Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Why do some feminists oppose misogyny but support gender ideology?

I recently ended up in the man hating side of tiktok, which is a place I tend to be in agreement with. I’ve seen several women bravely battle stupid men in the comments who manage to reinforce everything being said.

I’ve seen a pattern though that these women, who seem to be very up on rules of misogyny, and aware of how problematic too many men are, usually have pronouns in their bio, and occasionally will complain about being bullied by terfs.

I’m baffled.

How can they be so up on patriarchal nonsense yet miss the fundamental misogyny in gender ideology. How can they deny the evidence that trans identified men are just as much of a problem for women if not more as they want women’s rights and spaces.

They can make endless videos about how hateful men are because of the way women are treated, and how women have to budge up and make room, yet trans identified men are women, and anyone who says otherwise is a massive bigot. I don’t understand.

Your comprehension needs serious work. I said she hasn't advocated for poor women's access to sport. Her background is irrelevant although you would think she would know better given her experience. But I suppose there's no twitter love in that.

You clearly know nothing about her involvement with charities that support underprivileged children, including ensuring their access to sport

You clearly care nothing about men - yes, TW are men – being allowed to take away women's sports places and medals which in many cases are a route out of poverty

You just want to fling some shit and hope it sticks

Wow, you really missed the point @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime was making there! 😂

What it does do is fill up the thread nicely and make it too boring for any lurker to bother with, which (given the relay-work that seems to have been going on in this one) is probably the objective.

It's the trouble with encouraging them bang on so people can see how absurd their arguments are; they are so dull that it drives people away.

(Mind you, I get a terrible urge to answer every single one of the nonsensical pseudo-intellectual posts with the words "Clerical fascism!", which would be at least as relevant and meaningful....)

I did suspect when this thread first started with its first few glaringly nonsensical yet goady replies that the reason that regular posters ignored it for so long and didn't bite is that they knew that it would go the way of all similar threads with the same derailers spouting the same fact free disingenuous nonsense, DARVO and insults.

I think you're probably right. Even though it's highly illustrative of the way transactivists operate, most lurkers will likely be bored to tears with the same absolute nonsense from the usual suspects. They never send their best, do they? And yes, it continues to be the worst possible "advocacy" for trans identified people, but I don't think there's a great deal of self awareness in the movement full stop. Just tedious, irrelevant, timewasting nonsense and feeble gaslighting attempts. Sad, really.

The cis women can be violent too that's why women's prisons exist obviously. (Can't believe i have to spell this out but here we are).

If transwomen are women as you believe if you put a man representing as a woman in a cell with a women is there a heightened risk of rape and who is more vulnerable to that?

Ditto if you believe trans men are men and you put a woman representing as a man in a prison cell with a male is there heightened risk of rape and who is more vulnerable?

None of the three started out as a rich white woman, any more than Serena Williams did. Maybe your reading comprehension fell off the bandwagon somewhere.

I very much doubt that you have any idea who or what Navratilova has advocated for over the past 50 years, but do you not think that women from low income backgrounds also need fair competition? Who do you think is most reliant on scholarships and opportunity?

I think you realise that you don't have an argument so you are now resorting to AI and ad hominem attacks.

Just so you know because clearly it doesn't seem you do but this obsessive crank is incessantly on blast on X one tricky ponying her little heart out over trans women in sport not the underprivileged children's charities she gets a nice tax break out of.

Oh please, 0.25% of the population are hardly an existential threat to women's sport. White women 'problems' (aka obsessions)….

Shedmistress · Yesterday 11:54

Aren't most of the women in prison due to either non payment of the fine that they got for not having a TV licence, or for drugs or offences relating to men and their crimes?

And how would Bailey know what any of us 'do' for prisoners or ex prisoners. Or indeed to try and prevent prison in the first place?

I worked for years with mainly older teens who were on ISS - intensive supervision and surveillance. It was my name on the company documents, I invested my own savings into getting the support up and running, I bought the insurance, I wrote the documentation and implemented the processes to keep myself and the team safe, and to keep the teens safe from the location, the tools and from each other. It was my head on the block if anything went wrong. And most importantly I wrote the safeugarding processes procedures and triggered action where it needed to be triggered.

And Bailey thinks none of us do anything other than post on MN? You can fuck right off with that sunshine. We know only too well the risks, we've lived it.

Perhaps you missed my comment that said depends on the individuals concerned & that's why risk assessment for violence matters.

In any case as I said, trans people should have separate housing.

Trans people are not a monolith.

You need to seperate them by sex, as the people who are female are at risk from the people who are male.

Yes but can you acknowledge the risk of rape is heightened for the woman and not the man, no matter how he presents?

If you can see that then how can you claim TWAW when you know it’s a heightened rape risk

You can’t ask women to concede for male adults, that’s why you are getting a no.

Facts hurt your feelings?

The gender critical movement is hardly known for its 'diversity' or interest in issues that target poor women.

Oh please, 0.25% of the population are hardly an existential threat to women's sport. White women 'problems' (aka obsessions)….

Every woman who loses a place or a position is affected (including those who identify as trans), just as if one person takes illegal drugs that has an impact on every one else who is bumped down a place or doesn't qualify.

It does have an existential effect on women's sport both because without restrictions the 0.25% could dominate women's sport and because the message would be that women's sport doesn't matter and isn't a serious enterprise.

Although perhaps there could be a rule where trans men get to compete in men's sport, but get a head start/score boost to enable them to participate. There aren't that many of them, so I'm sure men won't mind.

Then why not advocate for single sex spaces in the workplace given that's where a significant amount of sexual harassment & abuse occurs not mention schools?

If you want to impugn all men, do it consistently or don't do it at all. So save your hypocrisy for the more simple minded.

Indeed. Pathetic, really. Imagine having so little integrity or facts in your side that you have to lie constantly or throw out random sweeping insults. If it wasn't for the enablers, it's really all they'd have. As this thread amply demonstrates.

Feeble stuff.

Is that you acknowledging the increased rape risk and that TWANW? Because that’s a step forward.

Women can say no thankfully. The male sex class can support gender non conforming males instead.

Why not? Why can’t men be more supportive and inclusive?
