Organisations refusing to give their single sex spaces policy - David Lloyd for example

I have been trying for a long time to get a written policy out of David Lloyds for about a year. they are still refusing to do so.

Anyone got any suggestions? And What other orgs are refusing to do it?

Is this the next trench we have to fight in? Getting the damned thing written down?

That’s good then isn’t it. And it’s all because of FWS and the wonderful women campaigning to ensure sex means sex and not gender.

Exactly this.

Taztoy · 05/07/2026 17:26

This.

plus I can’t freely leave when I’m having a panic attack and soiling myself because there’s a man on the other side of the door can I?

I am truly truly sorry that you were sexually abused in a psych ward. Truly. But the answer to that is to enshrine single sex spaces, not to loosen protections for women by letting orgs such as David Lloyd off the hook, or by talking about the “real” trans identifying individuals (no true Scotsman fallacy) or using wrong sex pronouns because a trans identifying individual has asked you to (pronouns are Rohypnol).

We'll have to agree to disagree then. If you think going to the gym is the same as being locked on a psychiatric ward then we just have different opinions.

I don't think you are reading what I have written because I have clearly said that due to my experience I campaigned for the wards to be single sex and they now are. I have not at any time suggested loosening protections for women by letting DL off the hook. I have said DL should have single sex changing rooms. It is my opinion that there are men who use 'trans' as a way to get their way as they always have through history. I do not believe they are all suffering body dismorphia. Again we can agree to disagree. A trans identifying individual has not asked me. I just prefer my child alive.

Perhaps we can draw a line under this now as I am feeling very attacked by you. From one vulnerable woman to another I hope we can leave it there and focus on the men causing the issues rather than fighting between ourselves.

I never said it was the same. Please don’t twist my words.

you have just attacked me by saying that.

I never ever ever said it was the same. Please don’t lie.

I don't know what FWS means but no there was noone else fighting it just me and a couple of other women from the hospital.

I apologise if I misunderstood. I said surely you can see the difference and you said you couldn't freely leave a gym either. But if you feel I am lying about you as I feel you are lying about me then I suggest we agree to leave it there as it is obviously causing upset on both sides.

Umm.. you think the hospital caved because of you, or because it was made very clear it was the law if you are in the UK?

How the actual bastarding fuck do you expect me to leave a gym when I’m banging my head so hard against the wall I’ve given myself two black eyes? When I’ve wet and pooed myself? When I’m curled up in a ball screaming? When I’m trying to claw my skin off from the inside out? Pull my face off myself?

wise up. I can’t “freely leave” when I’m in a trauma melt down.

The law since when?

I see. No they didn't help.

Yes they did. They took the case to the Supreme Court that clarified the law on single sex spaces.

UndertheCedartree · 05/07/2026 17:51

The law since when?

It always has been. But the trans advocates sold the world a pup. And the case that clarified it was in April 2025.

Theunchosenone · 05/07/2026 17:54

UndertheCedartree · 05/07/2026 17:51

The law since when?

it has always been the law. Stonewall tried to convince everyone it was not the law. FWS Scotland got the highest court in the UK to confirm it was the law and define sex as biological.

I honestly don't know why you are carrying this on. The point I was making is being sectioned in hospital is different. You would not in that situation be there for months on end being abused every day. You had the choice as to if you wanted to enter the gym initially too.

You said I could freely leave. I can’t. I’m not saying it’s the same but I can’t freely leave. I need someone to come and get me. I’ve had to be admitted overnight following meltdown. It’s not as easy as you’re portraying it. You don’t know what it’s like for me to live with. And I can’t describe it.

I also make the choice go to the gym expecting that the female changing rooms will only include women. Not men who have decided that they’re women. And if there isn’t a clear application of the law then I could find myself in that position again and again.

Taztoy · 05/07/2026 18:02

im not going to respond to you anymore as I don’t believe you’re posting fairly towards me. I’ve tried to express how much sympathy I have for you and I am desperately sorry that you went through what you did but that doesn’t mean that no one else’s trauma counts. You have NO idea what I live with day to day. I’m sorry you have it hard but to try to accuse me of saying things I never said is despicable.

I don’t want a man in a women’s single sex space. Not even one who thinks he’s a genuine woman. No even the real trans ones. The law says they need to stay out. And they should.

This was happening way before that. There was guidance around bedrooms and bathrooms being separate. But not wards.

Then aim your comments at those who disagree with you. You're just having an argument with yourself at this point.

Sadly, sectioned women being abused on psych wards have noone to come and get them.

I'm sure. It took us years to get change at our local hospital. Many hospital are still mixed.
