i can completely understand your position hholiday. I would just hate people to keep girls away from Guiding in general because of it... It's a very devolved set up -- so people should check out their local volunteers (who are often amazing feminists!), and decide based on those groups, not on a centralised policy, or on someone who volunteered in another county to them.

Whats disturbs me is the way the GG leadership were so ready to throw safeguarding principles away.

Scouts has been a train wreck when it comes to safeguarding and part of why it seems better now is their crisis management people have got much better at suppressing discussion and media attention (I was a leader the lengths they are prepared to go to to suppress concerns, suppress not deal with them, is chilling and is why I’m no longer a leader). Guides by its nature of being women led didn’t have the same issues, but rather than learn from scouts they were naive and assumed they would never have a problem.

It didn’t get the same media attention but Sulley continued to be a scout leader and in recent years was awarded his wood badge for long service.
