I came across a TikTok video last week made by an American man: he and his husband were confused by the fact that when their young son is sick/hurt/upset he calls out for, 'Mommy', or says, "I want Mommy". And the man's video was him saying that he didn't know where his son picked up this idea of using this word because, 'He doesn't have a mother, he's never had a mother.'
The man said he and his husband were finding it really annoying and wanted advice on what to do to get their son to stop doing it. They were asking if he might have picked up the habit or idea at kindergarten.
The video really made me think about the fact that so many recent changes in our society, and its technological abilities, are benefitting adults but at the same time are confusing children.
