I came across a TikTok video last week made by an American man: he and his husband were confused by the fact that when their young son is sick/hurt/upset he calls out for, 'Mommy', or says, "I want Mommy". And the man's video was him saying that he didn't know where his son picked up this idea of using this word because, 'He doesn't have a mother, he's never had a mother.'

The man said he and his husband were finding it really annoying and wanted advice on what to do to get their son to stop doing it. They were asking if he might have picked up the habit or idea at kindergarten.

The video really made me think about the fact that so many recent changes in our society, and its technological abilities, are benefitting adults but at the same time are confusing children.

It's not a private matter when "Freddie" puts it all out there, online, TV.

Not to mention taking it to the ECHR in an attempt to change the laws of this country in such a way it will effect everyone in this country. As someone in this country I feel I have the right to have an opinion on what this women is attempting to do an on the women who's attempting to do it.

Yes, what Freddy was proposing would have changed the legal definitions of “mother” and “father”, with knock-on effects for many other pieces of legislation. I believe Freddy’s solicitor had a list of these.

A prominent trans activist was campaigning for this change, saying it wouldn’t affect anyone other than trans parents.

Apart from anyone with a mother, father or child, that is. Hang on, isn’t that everyone?
