Vintage, earthy baby name inspo??

I have been digging and scouring the web for baby names. I really like names that feel vintage and earthy at the same time... for girls i really like

  • Eloise

  • Ember

  • Violet

  • Twyla

  • Winona

I'm looking for this same vibe. The kind of name that gives the same energy as the sunset beaming into your grandmas house- dust peaking through the rays, doilies everywhere, flowers. Preferably names that aren't SUPER common. I have a very unique name and want to keep the quirkiness in the fam.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I know, Baby Miss Havisham a particular gem.

Sorry - my first thought was Mud. - or Maud?

(Nell is short for Penelope, and others) - I think it is much more likely to be short for Helen or Ellen

And I’m loving the idea of Baby Lady Dedlock Grin

How about Lil Edwina Drood? Or Droodette?

I assumed stasi was pronounced like Stacey. If so, not a big deal

I think "vintage" is quite a subjective term. It could be something like Ellen, or Sheila or Tracey depending on your age and what was a granny name when you were young.

However, for older established names with a nature theme, I'd suggest:
Iris
Sylvia
Robin
Zinnia
Marguerite
Clementine (!)
Primrose
Daisy
Perdita
Marigold
Aurora
Daphne
Estelle/Esther
Fern
Dahlia
Dawn
Mavis
Ivy
Ariel

For earthy nature names that feel( to me) more earth mother/ hippy in nature put are not too unusual .

Enya
Gaia
Luna
Nova
Meadow

Nell is traditionally a nickname for Helen, Helena or Eleanor (not Penelope as the AI comment suggested).

timoteigirl · Yesterday 13:59

In my mind Ida is a perfect cottage core name. Or Hilda, Penelope, Annemarta

Are they earthy enough?

How would it be pronouced like Stacey? There's nothing to give the 'cey' sound.
Stasi's pronounced ˈʃtaːziː (starzy, assuming you don't sound your Rs)

HughManity · Yesterday 14:02

I find Elodie a bit dreary. It looks quite nice but sounds meh.

LizzieLazzie · Yesterday 14:10

Hazel
Primrose
Fern
Coral
Pearl

Love Nell.

Also like Hazel, Iris, Violet, Beatrice, Gwendolen

Bear in mind Winona is Lakota word this as you’re not Native American it’s a bit iffy, quite apart from naming affer a celebrity.

Ember is beautiful. I don’t think I’ve heard of that for a girls name so it’s unusual enough but not crazy and she won’t be spelling it out all her life.

Except every time she says it someone will mishear it as Amber and she’ll have to say, “no not Amber… Ember, with an E. Like in a fire. Sigh.”

I like pp suggestion of Tabitha and I will add Sylvie.

Jk987 · Yesterday 14:21

Just not Twyler, it sounds jokey. Taylor is a nice alternative but not vintage. How about Ruby or Iris?

timoteigirl · Yesterday 14:23

Agnes
Bryony

Meet little Stasi - be careful what you say in front of her!
And here's her sister Katherine Genevieve Brianna, she tends to go by her initials.
