You'll get better tips than this, but to get the ball rolling, some vitamins can give a natural lift. Folic Acid can help - but some say it can make you feel worse. Perk-you-up vitamins like Zinc, or Magnesium with Vit B, Iron too. All these can be got fairly cheaply at a store such as Savers.

Some crap food can make you depressed. Find out if you have coeliacs. I do, and a lemon slice can actually make me a bit weepy.

For me, who's still very much in the hole but chopping away at it slowly, is to slow life down as much as possible and then slowly rebuild it back up. Connect with nature, beach, woods. See friends when I have the energy to, but not put myself in overwhelming situations (no group meet ups at the moment), gardening, and just trying to keep going.

Basically anything you can do to make you feel connected and human.

Evidence-based steps such as CBT, behavioural activation, gentle exercise, sleep routine, and staying connected with trusted people can all support recovery. Professional support also matters, as depression is not something anyone should have to manage alone.

There's no fix when I'm in a hole. I just take each hour as it comes. I have to tell myself that it will pass.
