Me and my partner really like the name "Knowledge" for a boy. I'm curious to see what other people think of this name choice.

Knowledge Jamie Smith (our last name is very similar to Smith)

Jamie is the middle name because his father's name is James.

I think it holds a warm and curious energy. What do you guys think?

Aloysius is an excellent name for the discerning mother

It reminds me of Sebastian Flyte’s teddy bear in Evelyn Waugh’s Bridehead Revisited!!!

It is an odd name to give to a teddy bear but that book was written an age ago I suppose

it was first published in 1945!! I’ve never known anyone with that name.

That is a shame...Aloysius is not on a 'Peregrine' level and I think it's due a spike in popularity.
I suppose the first few Mummies who give their names to their Sons will have to be free of certain insecurities so to speak.

I’ve just looked it up, as it’s been years since I last read this book. Sebastian named his teddy bear after St. Aloysius Gonzaga. the patron saint of young students.

Sorry but that’s awful. Please don’t do that to your kid. Jamie is a lovely name use that

It’s the perfect name if he joins the army and works his way up through the ranks …. General Knowledge

Private Knowledge sounds good too though. Intriguing.

I wouldn't name my child after a Navigational Test for aspiring London Taxi drivers but what would I know.

Another wind up..who wants to be named after Hitler (Adolf) or the Devil (Lucifer)

So that is what is called a Strawman Argument. I'll let you use google to discover what that is.

However, there is clearly a hidden link that I'm missing between Aloysius, a perfectly good name and one that isn't common, with Hitler and the Devil. Otherwise you wouldn't have deliberately posted such a strange remark.
Thank you for reminding me of their names by the way!

The 'Aloysius' suggestion was part of a series of quoted posts that included Wordsmithery 's post on 13/6, alongside Adolf and Lucifer.

Not that confusing if you follow the thread or look at the nested quotes being replied to!

Again why should they include that name with Hitler or the Devil.

It makes no sense. Simply because they had made a nonsensical statement before doesn't mean that their repetition of such a statement makes it make any more sense.

If someone would like to explain why they are so similar instead of pointing to where that silly remark was made before, I would love to know!

Are you actually asking me to scroll up the thread and copy and paste what they wrote?!

Can you not see the post you are discussing?

You just done it again. Congrats. Maybe read my reply instead of just repeating yourself darling.
For the slow learners:
"Brilliant idea. If you want your kid to be teased mercilessly, that is. (Especially if they were, well, not terribly academic.)
Other names that people would ridicule less, for you to consider: Herod, Adolf, Peregrine, Aloysius, Lucifer. All improvements on Knowledge."

How is Aloysius mentioned alongside these names? It is laughable.

Indeed and the future King of England's name is Asda's own brand Clothing line!

This is not a good idea

Parent Teacher Conference:

Teacher: Knowledge shows very little motivation in class and doesn't want to learn new information. He didn't have his homework done and his test scores have been disappointing to say the least.
