(posting this on a few different threads for traffic) - last one I promise!

Burnham creates Reddit account to hold 'ask me anything' session

PM-in-waiting Andy Burnham will hold an "ask me anything" session on Reddit tomorrow as he seeks to share more about his vision with voters.

The Makerfield MP created his account two days ago, and posted a video on the very active "politics" subreddit asking for users to submit questions before the session at 5pm tomorrow. [Friday, 3 July 2026]

Might still be time to ask him about the Conversion Bill?

I can't see anything about women at all, but then all I see are the responses, not the questions. Can anyone who watched let us know if there were any questions at all about women's rights? Thanks.

I didn’t see any. Lots of hyperbole from TRAs but he dodged it all.

Very telling.

Burnham doesn't care deeply about the issues and will want to side step it and avoid talking about it.

He will go for the path of least resistance.

If we mount enough pressure we might be able to get Burnham to flip out from gender/trans nonsense positions.

On the other hand if enough people push him to pass anti women and child measures he will go along with it.

It is a position which means he is liable to along with the current Starmer consensus - biology is a thing women need things, but talking about too much it is bad, we may need to arrest people who say it too much and we need to do experiments on kids.

Burnham is a feeble cartoon man.

And you cannot have a PM called 'Andy'. I know the U.S had a president called 'Jimmy' - but Andy is not a serious name; and just makes him sound even more daft.

Ok, thanks for this, and @Ereshkigalangcleg

Well , at least we know where we are now, where he is (we see you, Andy Burnham!) and how we proceed. Keeping the pressure on. I'm tired of the fence-sitting PM, but we've had a lot of practice!

If he's ignoring women and TRAs, we'll have to figure out who he is listening to!

ps. I "love" his response to Kemi! As if boasting about being elected as MP two weeks ago by tens of thousands (as opposed to millions), and then effectively abandoning those who voted for him immediately for "better things" makes him principled, moral, and responsible enough to run the country! It's laughable.

To answer my own question: Andy is listening to Andy.

There was a Tony, and a Liz. People can use Andrew Murray Burnham if they feel they need to, just like they selectively used Anthony Charles Lynton Blair, Mary Elizabeth Truss, and James Earl Carter Jr. But get prepared for when you will actually have a PM called a non-trad name, because it is coming.

Agree. He doesn’t want to get involved. It’s not a priority either way.

'Andy' is just too informal, and not a name to be taken seriously. It carries no weight at all. Can you imagine Ursula Von Der Leyen greeting him? "Ey up, Andy mate

Really looking fwds to the blood sports of Call Me Andy being held to account by Janice Turner, Sonia Sodha, JKR etc.
Politicians like him think they're so clever, triangulating multiple positions to message multiple ways to multiple interest groups.
Instead, what they end up doing is in fact running around and around chasing their tails.

Just noticed I can't see a single other woman in the picture with her.

I thought the bloke next to her had a green mohican, but I think it's actually a turban. Someone must be stood by him and mostly hiddenBlush

Was also going to say Call Me Andy 😂

Is there a rumour that the Manchester mayoralty will be a big Reform v Green contest?
The Reform candidate looks very interesting, an established, successful female entrepreneur.
Suspect the Green candidate, like the Labour candidate, will be another TRA handmaiden.

lcakethereforeIam · 04/07/2026 18:38

It says in the Telegraph article

Ms Craig is the narrow front-runner in what many expect to be a close fight between Labour and Reform UK, with the Green Party also in contention.

And let me see how it'll go...the Reform candidate may take the lead over Labour in second, and on the day all left voters will migrate to Labour to get them over the line.
Wash rinse repeat at every election until and including the GE in those areas where Reform is ahead, or is in contention.

She's the current leader of the council, and a lesbian. Looks to be a virtual shoe-in.

Is this serious?

We have had Ted, Jim and Maggie as far back the 1970s.

Is this serious?

We have had Ted, Jim and Maggie as far back the 1970s.

Nobody referred to Thatcher as' Maggie' either formally, or on the international stage. She certainly didn't refer to herself as Maggie. 'James' Callaghan was always how I recall the then PM. Nobody referred to him as 'Jim' when he conducted interviews.

I've never heard Andy Burnham refer to himself as Andrew, nor have I ever heard anyone else refer to him as Andrew in any context or situation.

'Andy' is just not a serious epithet for a leader of the country - though it is indicative of his 'blokey', 'matey' persona and as such is supposed appeal to 'no nonsense' 'notherrners'. Though being 'a northerner' myself does not make me immune to wanting a leader who carries weight, gravitas and respect on the international stage - as well as in their own country.

You may dismiss this as irrelevent.....but I think image and perception is very important when it comes to how the public recieves you.
