6/3 exactly along the political lines. How did the left leave peoples rights behind like this?

The first opinions are in the transgender athlete cases. In B.P.J., the court holds Title IX allows schools to provide separate women’s and men’s teams defined by biological sex, and WV has permissibly maintained female sports for biological females....

”Cis” is not a neutral term. It has a lot of baggage. Some women feel that the way it’s used by genderists implies that they are actively participating in their own oppression.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/07/2026 08:24

And if you stop calling boys “trans girls”, the problem goes away.

In the US or Canada, has there ever been a case where a male who identifies as trans gained a scholarship for university/college by being successful in the female sporting category?

It was reported that Blaire Fleming, the SJSU volleyball player, had a scholarship.

In 2023, the University of Washington withdrew their offer, which I think included a scholarship, from another transwoman whom they'd recruited when they found out he was trans.

Cailleach1 · 02/07/2026 10:02

@GenderlessVoid ’when they found out he was trans.’

Was it more the fact he was a boy/man and thus ineligible for a girls/women’s scholarship, and not because he was simply ‘trans’ identified? If it was a girl/woman who said they adhered to this ideology and identified as ‘trans’, that would not have made them ineligible. As long as they aren’t taking performance enhancing drugs.

So, it seems the university found out his sex was male, and he was trying to take a woman’s scholarship. Maybe the university did know and were shamed into rescinding the few opportunities afforded to women being given to a boy/man because it was made public. Maybe the boy/man was deceptive, and never revealed he was male. Thankfully some groups advocating against this onslaught against women and girls were reporting on it.

I see he came from California, and was being allowed to take girls’ sports accolades. What a boy? (Or what a cheat). Also University of Washington only give two or three of these scholarships per year, and they extend over four years. Good that it didn’t go to a male who is cheating by competing in a sex category in which he doesn’t belong. And shame on everyone who is enforcing/enabling the trampling all over these young girls.

I’m not having a go at you @GenderlessVoid . I’m just trying to peel away the language used so that it is not obfuscating the situation.

Who are these boys (and their parents) blythly taking scholarships/honours from girls?

Have they no morals or sense of what is right? No shame?

Who would do such a thing?

If you buy into the notion that young George has transitioned to female and is now truly Jane, and that Jane wants to compete on the track team, or crew, or whatever, it's not a big leap that "Jane" would have to do so on the women's team. If "she" becomes a star, thanks to "her" athletic gifts, and gets a prime scholarship at uni as a result, they don't see anything wrong with that.

My daughter was the captain of her crew team in high school and was recruited to row at an elite women's university in the US (one of the seven sisters). She's just a little slip of a thing. If a MTF trans student had displaced her, it would have been devastating for her and deeply unfair.

At the time, he was eligible for a scholarship if the University of Washington had chosen to honour their offer but it would have been very controversial bc he was a boy who had identified as a girl since he was 12. Many people were angry that he would have taken a women's D1 scholarship. Even in California and Washinton, which are very blue and also tolerant of gender identity, many people were unhappy that he was competing as a girl. But the NCAA didn't change its rules to prohibit transwomen from competing on women's teams until 2025. That's how Blaire Fleming got his scholarship on the women's volleyball team at SJSU.

Whether the problem here is that these people have no moral compass OR no grasp on reality, the conclusion is the same.

With such limitations, they cannot be dictating how society functions for the rest of us.

Cailleach1 · 02/07/2026 11:54

In truth, he was never competing ‘as a girl’. He was always a boy who was allowed to compete against girls, in the girls category. It is immaterial how he ‘identifies’; he is a biological male.

Well done to her, and yes it would be ridiculously unfair, and an outrage.

SternJoyousBeev2 · 03/07/2026 18:59

Even if it were true that no girl has been displaced by a TiM, it would only a matter of time until it becomes commonplace, based on the sheer numbers of young people who are no trans identifying.

I am glad that some sporting bodies having rules to ensure female sport is for females only. I’ve not followed this enough with regards to US sport so I don’t know how many still need to get a grip. But the ridiculous situation in California that allows boys to take part in girls athletics and stand on the podium as some some of participation consolation prize is pathetic. I know that they can no longer officially displace a girl but that isn’t true in reality as running tracks have a finite number of lanes and a girl will always lose out.

Chickadeeinme · 03/07/2026 23:20

I’m pasting a post by HeCheated.org from X, because I think it shows how bad this is right now in some places:

I don't think people realize how bad the rules have been for girls in California, even if you know about how much boys have been stealing from girls there.

California bases participation on "gender identity" which is declared through self-ID.

This means that if John wants to join the girls' team, he doesn't have to do anything other than say that he wants to. No change of ID required, no hormone use, no psychologists' note. Nothing.

But it's even worse, because boys have also been allowed to do this at ANY time.

For example, several years ago, a boy on the boys' badminton team at Palo Alto decided he wanted to switch to the girls' mid season, right before sectionals, and HE WAS ALLOWED TO, taking the place of a girl who had already been playing on the varsity team all year. She was suddenly booted out. He was in.

This means if a boy knows he isn't going to qualify in track and field, he could run with the boys all season but switch to the girls' team right before the conference meet.

But of course, California respects all athletes, right?

FrippEnos · 04/07/2026 11:12

Isn't it strange that is now cominfg out that this poor little trans girl that just wanted to play with "her" friend was really verbally abusive to the girls in the locker room/team mates/friends.
