David Tennant seemingly hates women

Just seen David Tennant on The Assembly. Might be a repeat not sure. Flabbergasted that in response to a question about supporting transwomen in women’s spaces he said people need to ‘stop the hatred’, step aside and ‘let people just be.’ (Imagine that being said in his over the top faux ‘man of the people’ manner.)

He was then asked a question about making Good Omen’s 3 when Neil Gaiman has been ‘cancelled’ due to the light issues of being accused of Sex trafficking and rape of women. Here, he simply said he couldn’t ’leave people on a cliffhanger’ and moved on.

So, he’s happy to literally line the pockets of (very alleged) male rapists whilst at the same time arguing women not letting men in their spaces is hatred.

Fuck David Tennant.

Well, did he ever say it about a while man? You'd think that with the abundance of white men he must have met in his long career, he would have had plenty of opportunities to wish the worst of them out of existence.

He was answering a specific question related to what Badenoch had been saying. If a white man had been saying the same, do you really think his response would have been different, and if so why?

Of course! He would not have the guts to say what he said to a woman to a man - to any man. He is a misogynist male chauvinist pig who has made his disdain for and hatred of women more than obvious.

Yes, I do think his response would have been different, simply because men don't call out other men. Just look at how many men defend rapists instead of supporting their victims. Just look at how silent men have been about all the latest massive sex scandals. Men just don't call out other men, and DT is no exception.

Tennant did not say that "feminists like Kemi shouldn't exist any more". He said that "acknowledging that everyone has the right to be who they want to be... should be common sense" - which is surely correct - and his remarks about Badenoch not existing had nothing to do with her being a feminist (and she obviously isn't). They were made in the context of her denying people's right to be who they want to be, which, goodness knows, she does in a number of contexts, not just the trans one. Essentially he wants to live in a world where people don't have those views. He is certainly not advocating for mass extermination of bigots.

As for suggesting that he is criticising Badenoch because she is a feminist, how would you square that with her view that maternity pay is taking from one group of people and giving to another and is excessive, and her wish to scrap the Public Sector Equallity Duty?

Rubbish his response had everything to do with feminism.

Males have the right to identify however they want. They simply do not have the right to enter female only single sex spaces. Trans 'rights' do not extinguish female sex based rights and spaces.

If he were to advocate for the extermination of 'bigots', he would be the first in line.

Howse that work again?

I spotted the random italics earlier but for the life of me couldn't recall the name.

Which ever MN username raises that false comparison, and let's face it there have been so many over the years, it will always be a flawed premise that the poster is trying to make relevant.

The statistics relating to sex and violent crime where male people commit the majority of those crimes is undeniable. However, segregating single sex provisions is not solely focused on minimising the risk of those crimes being committed. There is a long list of other harms that the segregation of those provisions by sex means to minimise too.

It is why the attempt to use the 'but women do it too!' argument is so very weak.

But it comes down usually to a poster who cannot distinguish between legitimate and illegitimate discrimination and why some discrimination is allowed, and who seeks to use the tactic of convincing others that if one aspect of the foundational basis that upholds the need for single sex provision can be, in their own mind anyway, dismissed then none of the other needs are still relevant.

It wasnae Secret Smile? It was striking how convincingly he played that part.

The one I was remembering was actually called Deadwater Fall. It gave me nightmares.

As with Secret Smile, yes it is striking how well he plays these parts.

hes vile. I dont watch anything with him in anymore. not getting a view out of me pal ☺️

He comes across as angry all the time to me. No matter what part he plays, he plays it angry. Look at his primary teacher in Nativity 2 - the other first in the series have depressed, fed up teachers, not the fury of the David Tennant character. And during lockdown he did a show with Michael Sheen called Staged, where he was constantly furious too. It makes me anxious!

Evidence for that?

He's never breathed a word about Glinner.
