"Love is Love" T-shirt by Stonewall and S&M (yes, really)

One of Stonewall's contributions to the innocuous "Pride Month":

https://www.stonewall.org.uk/news/stonewall-launches-range-of-collabs-to-mark-pride-month

Stonewall has partnered with three top designers and a renowned comic publisher to create a range of merchandise to mark this year’s Pride month. All profits to go to supporting its purpose of creating a safe and equal world where all LGBTQ+ people can live, work and thrive.

The House of Kind “We Are All Equals™️” tee, created in collaboration with Single Swan, is designed to symbolise unity and allyship and features an embroidered equals sign and love heart as a reminder that all deserve to be treated fairly and equally. [My bold. I'd like to believe they meant this].

Oh, dear, one of their "collabs" is a brand called Scotty & Mirko (S&M - I kid you not!) with a T-shirt that says "Love is Love."

Do they really not know anything about history, or are they just hoping we won't notice?

Sorry in advance for this slightly unrelated post but..

Poor Stonewall seem to be struggling and the TRA's hate them so I'm sure T Shirts are the least of their worries.

Only three employees visible in the building yesterday. Or it could be just one employee, one support human and one identifying as a support dog.

According to the person in the video, "multiple cis athletes" are suing JKR for bullying. Who are these athletes? I cannot find anything anywhere on this. These claims seem to be made up.

I assume that one of the "cis athletes" is Imane Khelif who did threaten to sue JKR at one point but never actually did

Chrysanthemum5 · 18/06/2026 18:50

I was just in Sainsbury’s and their Pride display says ‘Love is Love’ so I guess it’s becoming more
common as a pride saying - to me it will always be associated with PIE though

Duckyfondant · 18/06/2026 19:16

Makes me think of paedophilia and incest - as the slogan could be used by sickos as an argument for both - which then leads me to questioning the whole q+ part of the movement.

CriticalCondition · 18/06/2026 20:03

Hose connectors or penises, whatever they are, those thrusting Es are very male.

If they wanted to play around with the letters they could have done something lovely and symbolic with the Vs. But they didn't, did they. Hmm, why is that?

It’s the symbol Scotty, of Scotty & Mirko, has used as a sort of trademark in his previous designs for Mulberry.

lcakethereforeIam · 18/06/2026 21:48

So even less effort has gone into the design than I thought.

Unless I'm missing something here, I don't see the problem? It's a lazy design for sure but there's nothing inherently wrong with a 'love is love' t-shirt

Apart for when it's used with the initials s and m and has dodgy associations with PIE.

But apart from that....

And that's why it will slide past the radar because 'what's the big fuss really', and yep, we've normalised a paedophile slogan and pushed acceptance that little bit further. The paedophile manifesto, a repulsive document published some years back, explained how you could get the general public to go 'what's the harm' just like this, and step by step you loosen off those so very inconvenient social boundaries to men abusing children.

100% this

SecretSquirrelSect · 18/06/2026 22:19

I'm a huge supporter of same sex marriage and equality.

I do not like 'Love is Love' though as it has always sounded weirdly coercive to me. Love isn't love, if it hurts, you're scared or sad or can't say no or they let you down or are unkind etc etc....

I can only assume the people who like it have had a very privileged path and only ever met and interacted with people who mean what they say.

gayhistorynerd · 18/06/2026 22:31

I still can't find any real source of the "love is love" slogan actually being associated with PIE- I'd really appreciate some links if anyone has any archival evidence, because so far all I've found is people repeating it as fact without anything to back it up

KnottyAuty · 18/06/2026 22:31

lcakethereforeIam · 18/06/2026 11:47

They went all in on designing it too. Really! It must have taken them...ooh...seconds.

If MN approves.

Ive not read the thread yet but whats with the penis shaped cross bars in the Es?

It's a design element associated with one of the designers from previous work.

Please appreciate that people are perhaps reluctant to post links to p*dophile sites, MAP sites and such like and have them in their search history.

Maybe. Though if not be surprised if it is something they picked up on later.

To me "love is love" is one of the first kinds of slogans for social change. It's so obviously not true, so right from the start to be plausible we have to avoid applying it where it's inappropriate. Like abusive relationships which can of course involve real love.

So it is an easy idea to manipulate one people accept it as a truism.

And it shuts down all the real and serious questions around ssm too, like, Is marriage really about love anyway? Why have legal marriage? Is it correct to say that we can't have legislation that differentiates on the basis of reproductive role because of equal rights?

That happens a lot on this board. I made a smiler comment a few days ago on another particularly
(IMHO ill informed) thread - the OP and many others were stating ideas/opinions as if they were robustly-evidenced facts.

My mistake. Turns out I saw a mislabeled photo and drew the wrong conclusion.

Really? I've never seen that. This board is usually ful of evidence. Its not compulsory to read the threads though if you don't like therm.

There was a thread about PIE some time ago which included some documents referencing this phrase, but I'm no good at the advanced search, maybe someone else will have more luck. Peter Tatchell could probably tell us!

As a pp said, if a phrase has even the slightest association with paedophiles for even a few people, I don't know why you wouldn't distance yourself from it. Gay men have fought hard to shake off that undeserved link, I don't know why you'd willingly circle back to it.

Always the ‘girlie’ voice and long hair and tits, otherwise how would we know that this man was a woman? Tedious.

I thought it would be quite a creepy thing to experience - having someone standing on a mezzanine or balcony over the heads of employees. Fortunately it was only a speech, but with Bash Back on the loose and upset with Stonewall, I imagine it was a stressful moment wondering if anything might be thrown down on them. I wonder how this person got access to the space? And why noone removed them? Peaceful protest and speeches are obviously fine but they aren't automatically allowed inside the premises are they?!
