Aberdeen teacher complaining about being blocked from teaching LGBT+ to 7 year olds

A primary teacher residing in stonehaven, and seemingly registered with aberdeen council, has posted on the 'scottish primary teaching' facebook group her anger at not being allowed to deliver LGBT+ lessons to her P4 class (which in Scotland will be ages 7-8). She gets support in the comments from John Summers Campbell - the drag queen teacher. Did he not have some kind of legal action / bad press against him at some point? My mind vaguely recalls a tribunal or something....
I'm sure her employer will be delighted at her using her real name, having trans flags on her personal profile, publicly critising them, making the school and SLT pretty much identifiable, allowing other teachers to slag them off and call them bigots. Any Aberdeen residents on this thread?

Nah. LGB is fine. But the T, well, it really depends on what is actually taught.

Can you quote me on my wanting them to be eradicated?

(Hint: no, you can't, because I never said anything of the sort.)

There is a whole world of difference between wanting to ‘eradicate’ someone from society and a grown up discussion slabiyt what is acceptable and age appropriate for children in schools.

If you read the thread you’d probably catch up on the discussion. I’d be delighted to hear your thoughts when you have.

What is your opinion on the full scope of the ‘trans umbrella’ and where do you draw the line? Of the groups that would like to be included but are not currently explicitly listed, who would you exclude?

What is taught depends on the school, even the teacher.

What should be taught: something along the lines of: "For some unknown reason, some people believe they should be the opposite sex of what they truly are. So they change their name and ask the rest of us to use opposite-sex pronouns for them. We can accept to do that or not. It is generally considered kind to do it, but it doesn't mean that we actually believe they are the opposite sex."

Did you mean to be so rude to an openly trans poster?

English is my second language.

And no, there aren't any inaccuracies in what I said.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 24/06/2026 17:01

Sorry @Seethlaw . Realise that I've spoilt it haven't I? 😯😃

solerolover · 24/06/2026 17:01

and putting aside the more glaring crimes against proper usage of the English language

"Let's sneer at people who don't have English as a first language, it's such fun!"

Yeah. I was having fun, I admit 😁But it's okay. I'm still extremely amused by the condescension. It's almost cute.

Thank you for the apology!

Regarding the inaccuracies: since you seem unwilling to point them out, I can only assume they don't actually exist. If they did, you would no doubt be eager to correct my misconceptions.

the school curriculum is making teachers groom the kids. They might not realise that is what they are doing. Though a head teacher who has fake boobs might. I can’t believe it, who would have ought rural Aberdeenshire would be where the gender madness lies? They don’t have heaps of gay bars to choose from like they might in canal st.

It seems to be thriving in small communities where people want to seem modern thinking, not realising that the big cities like London have been eye rolling for years…

Yes. I thought he was a good example of the behaviour of trans activists in schools. The fact he was on the teacher's site as described in the OP's first post cheering on the teacher to complain to her SLT was an interesting decision. Criticising other senior leaders in public without knowing why she'd been told not to use the materials? Not the behaviour I'd expect from a professional senior leader

Having read the post - where did he criticise other senior leaders? Also he didn’t report a parent, he reported a clinical psychologist. There’s a difference. Yes, she was a parent but if you read the report it was her role as a clinical psychologist that was being questioned just as she was questioning his role as a teacher.

I'm curious as to why you think children should be told it's generally kind to use wrong sex pronouns - why not be neutral and leave it at 'we can do that or not', acknowledging that it's a personal choice and that no child should be taught it's kind/unkind to use/not use pronouns that don't match someone's sex?

Hmm... You know, I think I agree with you! There's no need to mention the kindness bit. Children shouldn't be taught that they have to be kind at the expense of their own cognitive integrity.

I'm really not married to my proposal, by the way. It's more like a starting point, to be refined. So by all means, I'm open to any constructive criticism of it :)

SirChenjins · 24/06/2026 19:53

That's my take on it too - I think it's important for children to know that they have right to accept or reject other people's beliefs (in a respectful way obviously).

Edited

It is all meant to be about respect but that isn’t happening. We can’t erase trans people from society.

True, but that doesn't mean we have to teach children to lie around them either.
