Diversity Role Models and Stonewall: coming soon to a school near you (June 2026 announcement)

BridgetPhillipsonIsACowardlyJobsworth · 02/06/2026 17:09

I thought I would start a new thread for this, after trying to revive an old thread (from 2024) to notify people that Stonewall has just announced a new partnership with Diversity Role Models, 2 June, 2026.

Diversity Role Models joins the Stonewall family to expand support for schools and young people across the UK.

London, United Kingdom, June 2, 2026
Diversity Role Models and Stonewall have today announced a new chapter in their shared commitment to tackling bullying and helping schools create environments where every young person feels valued, respected and able to thrive.
^^
Under the new arrangement, Stonewall will support Diversity Role Models’ work as its sole member organisation, providing operational support, national infrastructure and additional resources to help extend Diversity Role Models’ educational programmes to more schools and young people across the UK.

Background to Diversity Role Models (previous MN threads), from 2024 and 2020 (I did find some of this difficult reading!)

Thanks to @MrsOvertonsWindow @Ereshkigalangcleg for pointing me in the right direction.

I haven't seen anything yet in Safe Schools Alliance or Transgender Trend websites, but it was just announced today. I'm sure they will be on top of things, but if anyone here is in contact with them, it might be worth mentioning to them.

The full set of meet the team pages were up when I looked just before I posted this morning and I’m sure it had Alex listed as CEO

Thanks, it did, but it seems he has moved on. They are obviously updating the page, or ...something.

Thanks for archiving that! It's reads as a little behind the times now, doesn't it? I have noticed that some areas if their website have not been updated since last year.

This is still on their website:

How My Son's School Became a Centre of Inclusivity for Trans Students

“…a plan of action was put into place for when my child would ‘officially’ transition at school“

You can guess what sex the “son” is.

https://www.diversityrolemodels.org/news/transforming-classrooms-how-my-sons-school-became-a-centre-of-inclusivity-for-trans-students

and archive copy: https://archive.ph/t7yyO

That's actually a very chilling article. It's a classic example of the lack of knowledge, understanding and care for child development / psychology / peer relationships and the role of schools that transactivists display. A little girl just out of primary school and the school uses a video of her and show it to every class to gaslight children that she's changed sex. Of course the children were kind about it - they're 11 and their instinct will be to be kind and accepting.

Once that video was shown, that child was glued into that identity as a boy. The school was shamefully used as a tool to imprison her in that assumed identity. After that video, few children would ever have the confidence to admit that they were mistaken. There could be no possibility that an 11 year could change her mind, regret her decision as she matured.

That was the advice to schools from transactivist groups back in the day - I read it all when dealing with a similar situation in a school. However in my school we recognised the inappropriate demands in the (Mermaids) guidance, the lack of understanding of schools and children and sought informed, child centred support instead for a child with significant mental health and other needs.

It's interesting that an adult organisation promoting sex change to children keeps an article like that on its website presenting it as positive. In reality it demonstrates just how unqualified they are to be anywhere near children and schools.

BridgetPhillipsonIsACowardlyJobsworth · 03/06/2026 22:23

Having spent quite a bit of time on their website today, there are lots of areas that need improvement, just from an accessibility point of view. And their news pages are out of date, which makes it seem as though they are promoting things that just look "old" now. Things are moving so quickly now. That article was from 2023. It may be a sign of how disorganized they are. Some of the content just looks out of touch, and, therefore, yes, inappropriate.

I'm wondering how they are planning to get past their previous history (ASDA, etc.) when we have all the receipts.

On the other hand, it's possible that they are just clinging on by their fingernails and have no real news to post. The only thing I've seen is this partnership with Stonewall, and Stonewall might also be a sinking ship, they just don't know it yet. 👋

Just wanted to copy @MrsOvertonsWindow 's post from 2024 here, because it sets out the previous issues with Diversity Role Models clearly and resources from Safe Schools Alliance and Transgender Trend (in case the 2024 thread link breaks again):

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/03/2024 14:50
Safe Schools Alliance & Transgender Trend have exposed how unsuitable these adult activists are to work with children in schools.
The SSA information highlights how DRM's online presence renders them unsuitable to be working with children & clarifies how this breaches DfE guidelines. They openly promote mixed sex changing, showers etc and got into hot water during lockdown for promoting the dodgy "‘love has no age’ and ‘love has no age limit’" paedophile associated slogans in an Asda funded home learning pack.
https://safeschoolsallianceuk.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Parents-Guide-to-external-PSHE-RSE-providers.pdf
They make a good living out of children in schools but are unfortunately are a queer theory activist group so not politically impartial
https://www.transgendertrend.com/diversity-role-models-conformity-new-ideology/
Lots of information in the links to use in asking the school why they are outsourcing their inclusion work to an adult group like this.

Just a note to say that my last two posts (deleted by MNHQ) were screenshots of resources that can be found on Diversity Role Models website:

https://www.diversityrolemodels.org/education-services

(who knows how long they will stay published?)

Their staff information at Who We Are is still not updated, after having been taken down recently.

Their list of Trustees can still be viewed:

Diversity RM offer "training" for primary & secondary - so children as young as 4. They state that "The signature highlight of each workshop is hearing from LGBTQ+ or ally Role Models about their lived experiences.

I linked the new SRE Health guidance for Sept 2026 upthread (03/06/2026 12:33) It's lengthy and rigorous, with the focus being on comprehensive age appropriate education, working with parents and takes a clear safeguarding approach. In my opinion it offers no space for adults wanting to self indulgently "share their lived experiences". There are clear guidelines about the role of external speakers, the primacy of the teacher's role and the school's responsibility to share all resources with parents. There are a few extracts below but it's worth parents reading the whole thing

It talks about gender reassignment and the protection afforded to those covered by the pc. It states that "when teaching this, schools should be mindful that beyond the facts and the law about biological sex and gender reassignment there is significant debate, and they should be careful not to endorse any particular view or teach it as fact. For example, they should not teach as fact that all people have a gender identity".
"Schools should avoid language and activities which repeat or enforce gender stereotypes. Schools should be mindful to avoid any suggestion that social transition is a simple solution to feelings of distress or discomfort"

Activist groups will be unable to meet the requirement to be child centred and neutral because they're all political / queer theory advocacy groups promoting gender identity, the removal of single sex spaces etc. They'll never meet the legal requirements to work with children. And the new KCSIE guidelines when published which includes follows the SC judgment about no undressing in front of the opposite sex, single sex toilets etc will reinforce that there's no place for queer theory activism in schools.

Parents finally have back up to get these political activists away from schools. We just need to be aware and use the guidance to insist schools comply if any are foolish enough to outsource their SRE / Health Ed to activists.

One thing to be aware of for schools, especially for the start of the new school year, September 2026: Stonewall's made-up term "legal minimum." (In other words, the Still Trying to Get Ahead of the Law):

Frequently Asked Questions about Stonewall’s work in… | Stonewall UK

Does Stonewall encourage schools go above and beyond the legal minimum?

Yes, and proudly. Equalities legislation rightly protects people from discrimination, abuse and harassment, but complying with the law is the minimum rather than the maximum that schools, colleges and youth services can do to support LGBTQ+ people to thrive when they are learning.

Schools, colleges and youth services are constantly driving forward practices to ensure all their learners are supported to perform their best at school or college. No organisation is forced to work with us.

They do so because they see the benefits for all their students – not only their LGBTQ+ students.

(This webpage also refers to this non-statutory guidance issued by the Department for Education in September 2020), so it may be that this page is due for an update!

According to his LinkedIn entry the chair of trustees is also now the CEO and he’s based in Houston, USA not England where the charity is based and operates.

Anyone else feel like that’s a bit of a conflict of interest as well as being decidedly odd to have a US based chair/ceo for a relatively minor English charity?

Yes, I saw that he lives in the US when I looked them up on the Charity Commission website. They are also a company (info upthread from Companies House), so perhaps they see no conflict in that. I hadn't realized that he was also now the new CEO, thanks for that info!

It might be a conflict having the Chair of the Trustees also being the CEO, but not sure.

Perhaps someone with more expertise in this area could comment?

Oddly although there are annual reports available to download they are only for 2016-2020 inclusive. There is no more recent annual report than 2020.

The rest of their website is seriously dated. No news that I can see since last year. But they have been actively taking information down since I started this thread, so I have no doubt that someone is keeping tabs on it.

Their recent accounts are still available on Companies House and Charity Commission websites. I don't suppose they have any influence to be able to force either to remove that information, but you never know!

Probably a useful place to post this. Not about Diversity Role Models, but adjacent to "things to be aware of in schools and libraries."

From SEEN in Publishing, 3 July 2026

Well, this year we teamed up with Transgender Trend and Biology in Medicine to do a deep dive into trans activism in children's books, Children's trans-themed books - Transgender Trend which we thought might be of interest to those of you who are involved with schools/libraries or are just concerned parents. If it strikes a chord, do let your school/local library know about the report, and point out that there are serious safeguarding issues with some of these books

Children's trans-themed books - Transgender Trend

Children's trans-themed books have been promoted by publishers, bookshops and the children's book publishing industry over the past decade.
