Very proud to announce that SEENinHealth has published an interactive policy map on their website here:

https://seeninhealth.org/nhs-foi-map/

This is a huge milestone for the fabulous 40 or so mumsnetters who worked together to audit these NHS policies last year and "keep the receipts" which form the basis for this map. SEENinHealth have passed on their thanks to you all!

It is thought that there have been no single sex spaces in the NHS since 2009 despite public declarations to the contrary. The gender self ID policies on this map were in force in 2024-2025 and we found no evidence of any protected single sex spaces for staff or patients across the UK - over 300 Trusts!

We have been doing a follow up sample of FOI searches this month. The results are coming in but so far no Trusts have updated to lawful single sex spaces yet - all are waiting for EHRC guidance... the map will be updated in due course.

Please do use this data to help hold your elected representatives and NHS Trusts to account. And share with others. Sample letters and contact details are linked from the map page to make it easy to request that your Trust complies with the law.

SEENinHealth will be launching the map officially tomorrow so any help boosting their social media posts would be great thank you.

You guys have a mention on Reddit for this thread, might be useful awareness. https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1tkyxee/the_mundanity_of_just_carrying_on/

Thanks for this - I find it interesting that the posters on the Reddit thread think it’s ok to stereotype women negatively but object so strongly to any equivalent discussion about trans identities.

in the end we are all very lucky to live in the uk where the law is progressive and allows for EVERYONE to to have rights. The clue is in the name - the equality act !? I find it very ignorant and f those who fail to understand or accept this.

And to those saying that the services will be trans exclusive are missing the point. There will be inclusive services but single sex for those who want that - you know - because of lived experience you know?

It really is an incredible piece of work. Thanks to all involved, as I know there were many giving up their time and skills, but particularly to KnottyAuty.

It’s down to all the women on here who supported whether by helping or encouraging! It’s great what can be done when we all pull in the same direction 😊

Equality, diversity and inclusion

West London NHS Trust's version of the nine protected characteristics (which will come as no surprise to any of us):

We’re committed to treating everyone fairly - our staff, those who use our services and their families and carers – in line with the Equality Act 2010.
The Equality Act 2010 provides protection from discrimination for the following protected characteristics:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender
  • Gender reassignment
  • Marriage and civil partnership
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Race
  • Religion and belief (including lack of belief and philosophical belief
  • Sexual orientation.

NHS hospitals defy trans ruling

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/18793d091421432e

thanks for the gift. I see they are still "waiting " for the guidance, as are we all. I expect that their brand, spanking new policy will be issued on or after 9 July then. (as if)

FarriersGirl · 28/06/2026 12:11

They are not even trying to follow the SC judgement in my view, just obfuscate and mislead which is despicable.

1600 plus comments - have yet to read one in favour of the toxic NHS disobeying the law.

The few comments I skimmed seem angry. That’s changed since the first coverage (which was about the Scottish Trusts). Those comments were along the lines of “I’m glad I don’t live in Scotland” the next story was about London Trusts- same kind of commentary swapping in London for Scotland.

It seems that people are aware of what’s going on now and won’t stand for it. Hopefully the government’s media monitoring analyses comments for sentiment and this starts to move the needle

Generally the comments under the Times & Telegraph are infuriated. People can't believe that the government have delayed the SC judgment so long, that the NHS has been captured by transactivism to such an extent that they're experimenting on children with pbs and have policies wedging men into women's spaces.

There's been a sea change in the last couple of years. Very few transactivist comments - presumably because the levels of abuse of women and children is so extreme with people exasperated by the fake "right wing bigotry" allegations. A lot of contempt displayed for those still pushing transactivism at an unconsenting public

ArabellaScott · 28/06/2026 16:03

Unfortunately the Telegraph's facebook post is the opposite. Not sure why that would be.

I guess people are more wary about challenging the bullshit 'be kind to men and fuck women's needs' narrative under their real names.

I thought it was not legal to say gender, not sex, and could be flagged to the Trust's legal team as being wrong, illegal, and in breach of law etc....does anyone know if the Trust involved has been pulled up on this?

This 'error' is quite common in NHS policies and other organisations. The Telegraph article says that the trust took legal advice although if they did, it was wrong.

They have the audacity to say theyve taken legal advice on this policy. Perhaps it was from a security guard on the front door of the hospital because whoever advised has zero idea about the equality act… I mean im just embarrassed for them really - couldn’t even copy the EA 9 PCs correctly…. Urgh. That lawyer should really have a formal complaint made about this woeful advice. This level of incompetence is unprofessional conduct very much in the public interest.

I would guess:

they haven't updated these webpages in long time
they have had very bad legal advice or they haven't sought legal advice at all
they think "sex" is a transphobic dogwhistle
they don't care that they might be sued
they don't care about much of anything at all, especially women and girls
or all of the above
