This is the third one now I've heard of/read about. Pelicot was NOT an outlier. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/husband-12-others-charged-string-33463076

  1. a new acronym we all need to learn - organised drug-facilitated sexual assault (ODFSA).
  2. and to think mumsnet gets criticism for being an online forum where women find each other and organise?!
  3. "“If something doesn’t feel right, you do not need proof or a clear memory to seek help,” she added. “Police and support services will make sure you are listened to, taken seriously and given the care you need.” I very much doubt it. Sadly, I think a lot of women will get laughed out of the police station.

I think the rise of unmoderated social media, easy access to anonymous chat forums, plus Pornhub, has normalised a lot of this behaviour. They know they are likely to get away with it; if they get caught, they will not be charged, and even if they are charged and sentenced, they might still get little or no jail time.

I wish we could bring back social shame. For example, broadcasting to everyone on their contact book their crime, after they had been convicted.

If a woman posted on MN saying she had no proof but felt like something was wrong, what would she be told?

"Trust your gut" seems quite usual.

Oh yes this is more than just Gisele Pelicot.

Along with that rapist from Rochdale and all those other paedophiles.

Can't men think of a better way to use their time? This is what they chose to do?

canuckup · 03/07/2026 19:30

Trust your gut, ginger, cos in most circumstances men are at fault.

It's statistically true.
