Advice on creating a safe beach space for a toddler

Hi,
I'm a solo foster carer taking a 2yr old to a UK beach for his first time (and first holiday) in September. He has all sorts of challenges so I want to be prepared.

What is best to make a safe space for us that he won't just continue to run off? He has very little understanding and no sense of danger. I was thinking a pop up shelter with windbreaks but then we won't be able to see out? He will just scramble over any kind of sand ditch/line of sandcastles. He will see the whole occasion as extremely exciting and I just want him to have the best time ever, but obviously keep him safe.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Reins? On a little backpack that can be clipped on and off as appropriate?
Otherwise just watch him, keep the visit short 1-2 hours. Go for walks, take a Pram.

Honestly, if you’re by yourself, I’d just stay mobile with him rather than trying to fence him in somehow! Put supplies, food, sunscreen etc in a light backpack and walk around with him, paddling, playing with sand, in rock pools etc.

The great thing about the beach is the space. Let him run and run with him. Rockpooling, digging sandcastles, finding shells and beach glass, feet in the sea and running away from the waves. Keep him busy! Take a toy dumper truck and fill and empty the back with sand. Hours of fun! 😁
