Ideas for a short break without kids

The kids are at a 3 night summer camp in a few weeks' time. DH and I were thinking of going away together for a few nights at the same time. We will be driving and ideally don't want to be too far from London as that's where the kids will be (in case of emergencies) - a couple of hours is fine.

We haven't been away together just the two of us for about 10 years so this is the first time since then that we'll have some much needed time together after some ups and downs.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What do you like doing?

You could go walking in the Peak District. The Hope Valley is beautiful. Or Bristol for the food and pubs.

Thank you for the suggestions. I really don't mind in terms of what we do - walking, historical sites, good food, see a theatre show. It's just to get away together for once!

Go to a spa? The Lifehouse isn’t too far from London.
We love Suffolk - Aldeburgh and Southwold were our places for a short getaway.
There’s plenty to do in Brighton - Royal Pavilion, The Lanes for shopping. A nice sea front.

DH and I love walking together to reconnect. We're staying in a cottage in Hathersage in September.
