Itchy raised breast rash while breastfeeding and awaiting my period’s return

I have a red raised very itchy rash on both of my breasts. Not on the nipple and not in the typical place you’d expect to get a sweat rash either (under boob). I don’t have eczema and I haven’t recently changed the bras I wear or changed my wash powder of anything.

I’m breastfeeding my 22 month old still and haven’t had a period at all yet since before I was pregnant so I suspect it will make an appearance very soon as it about this stage my period came back with my eldest. I think my hormones are behind this, the doctor doesn’t have a clue, they said their best guess is maybe it’s a fungal infection so prescribed me a cream that is antifungal and eczema related to help soothe the itchiness. I’m on day 2 and if anything it’s getting a tad angrier each day, the cream is definitely not working but they said to give it a week. I’m going to upload a picture (I will mark it as sensitive so it’s not a jump scare and I have edited out the actual nipples) Please tell me other mums have gone through something like this?! It’s bizarre to me!

I have tried my daughters eumovate eczema steroid cream (no effect), I’ve been applying double base 5 times a day (a strong moisturiser) it helps with the itchiness sometimes and the cream prescribed by my GP.

I tried to find a breastfeeding section on this website but couldn’t find it so if anyone is aware of another section I should be posting this in please let me know!

Thank you

I had something like that about ten years ago.
I wasn’t breastfeeding at the time, it was pre dc.
GP was no use. I had it on one side of my neck as well but not on the same time.
I reckon it was fungal because what helped was keeping it clean and dry and using Caldesene powder and sudocrem.
After a shower, I patted it dry then the powder. At night I used the sudocrem and slept topless.
Eventually it just went and stopped coming back and I haven’t had it since.
It was the itchiest rash I’ve ever had by a mile and I am very prone to rashes, suffer from eczema etc. I’d say it’s awful with breastfeeding 😖
An ice pack might help when it gets angry (but make sure it’s completely dry on the outside).

Hi @Throwawayquestioningthere is a BFing section, well it’s an anything feeding babies section and it’s under feed the world.

I had around 18 months of no AF after having both of mine but never had this rash. Have you still got it now?
