Elected on a minuscule turnout. When I belonged to a union, I always voted. I read the candidates' statements and made a point of voting for the ones that focussed on the reasons I had joined in the first place - pay, pensions, working conditions. I rejected all the people whose main focus seemed to be boycotting Israel. I understand why most union members don't bother to vote. It's tedious and possibly seems irrelevant. But then you end up in a union run by people like this. I left mine.

What a moron - the military is a public service.

She needs to change her perspective - every penny spent on benefits could be spent on public services.

It makes me furious that more men will now believe that women don't have the brains to be in business or in parliament.

I agree with you on that point. Union members need to wake up and look at who's running their union. It amazes me that someone can be voted into a position of such power and responsibility on a tiny vote like this.

Defence is one of the most important things.

incidentally, benefits are public services.

In the world as it is today we absolutely need defence. And that means spending more money. I read the other day that Putin is thinking about invading Poland to ses how Nato reacts.

Maybe Putin should finish his invasion of Ukraine before starting on any more.
