I think many people will never give Starmer any credit for this but he did make a positive difference. It’s scary in the last few years how MSM and SM make the British people so unaccepting of relatively decent leaders (I exclude Johnson and Truss from that)

I agree but he got off to a really bad start. The Country needed a narrative of hope yet all we were fed was doom and gloom the whole year until the budget. Add on the weird timing to remove the winter fuel payment and the consequent u turn, the unnecessary fight he got into with the farmers when he should have been championing them post Brexit and the some what draconian punishments that were handed out in the wake of the Southport murders, it's easy to see why people turned against him. Also although they won a landslide at the election, by all accounts they hadn't actually drawn up a plan to govern, which is somewhat remiss!

The PM does not sentence folk. That's the courts. You think life with a minimum term of 52 years was draconian ?

i do think they had a plan and have made a lot of changes, but haven’t sold it well enough. For example they’re working with many social housing providers to provide them with a stable financial environment and loans to invest more in building and improving social housing , which has been gratefully received in the sector. We need long term investment like this. Bet noones got a clue about this, and Labour haven’t sold what they’ve done

Fair point. It was the rhetoric he used around it though, he could have been more cute. I was referring to the sentences handed down to protestors, which in turn fuelled the whole 'two tier Kier' narrative. I'm not saying that's fair as there is no evidence that there is a two tier system when it comes to sentencing, however he could played it better given the genuine outpouring of grief and rage from working class communities around the country, especially as much of it was (rightly or wrongly) driven by fear.

Even his ‘I kept out of the Iran war’ is misleading rubbish. All he was being asked to do was let the US use UK airbases. Which he did anyway, after a fudge.

Yup. His doublespeak over the airbases was terrible. They can't use our airbases he said. Then it was they can use then, but for defense only. But he was saying they can't use them, as they used them. With their own definition of defense.

Other nations forbid the US from their airspace.

As I recall he provided funds to keep the court open longer to deal with the backlog.

I don't think Starmer's entry in the history books will be particularly long.

Frankly, it was embarrassing to be represented by Johhson and Truss on the world stage. Sunak was a relief in this way, to me, and Starmer was really good. The E3, for instance, was obviously genuine:

The only time I ever saw Starmer show genuine emotion was yesterday when talking about his family.

I hate Starmer. My elder son and his family has just left the UK to re-establish his printing business in the US, because he says the chance of prosperity here in the UK for a small business owner is so difficult.

My younger son has now decided to follow him. He has two little girls, and says the UK is not safe for them. This means I will not be able to engage much with my grandchildren.

Hmm. While there may be some small wins, he's made no effort to disguise the fact he's not keen on Farmers, the elderly or women. I'll be very glad to see the back of him. Although I fear the next PM may be even worse.

Must admit I have never heard of something like that. A business owner providing a physical product closing one business and opening another doing the same in another country. Especially one as difficult as the US to get into.

Cut NHS waiting lists, yes by withdrawing funding on lots of treatments so the waiting lists were removed!

Prison releases, that caused chaos in a lot of cases, early releases to no ongoing support, lack of release accommodation, shortage of probation and supervision, support services so many ended up back in prison after reoffending. Pledged to support students and then retracted on that.

Took credit for the Employment Rights Act, that has been kicking around for years and was always due for royal assent last year.

No, he was born there in the 90s and held on to his citizenship. We did a two year stint in the US early in my husbands career.

For safety I'd far rather be in the UK than US any day.

I'm not a Starmer fun but this makes no sense. In what world if the US a safer place for children. Here a relatively small (but obviously awful) knife attack features in the news for years. In the US school shootings are just seen as one of those things that happen but nothing can be done. .

I think you're blame here is completely misattributed.

Remember Trump is working to remove US birthright citizenship. Retroactively.
