I haven't seen chn but try not to use kids and use child(ren) as a default.

I don't really like the use of DH, DP, DC, etc. especially when the H, P, C, etc. are obviously nor Dear/Darling, whatever.

If you’re talking about the MIL thread, I think you’re being a bit precious. It’s obvious what it means. Why does is matter? Is it much different from people who write DCs?

Edited

Incorrect as there are multiple pedants so this is pedants’ corner.

EdinaTheConfessor · 01/07/2026 09:35

Ah cross posted then. As you were.

Good old Muphry's law!

Yes, and so much more!

I tried to correct the lack of capital letter, and autocorrect moved my apostrophe (Sod's Law).
Then I corrected it back but missed off the full stop (Muphry's Law), and had to correct that in turn.
Meanwhile, @EdinaTheConfessor had already corrected the autocorrection in a cross-post, beating my edit to it (Edina's Law - someone will always be too quick for you).

I agree OP, my brain kept trying to read it as 'chin' which made the whole thing herder to follow.

@BrickBiscuit - the tongue in cheek question is - who is "Muphry"?

As I understand it, Murphy's Law being that if someone can cock up they will, in Pedants' corner it's additionally ironic. So 'Muphry' is a self-referential in-joke which embodies its own law.
