Ovulation and cycle shortening after miscarriages at 39 while TTC - worried

My Ovulation days have always varied slightly. From CD17 to CD24. I am 39 and TTC baby No.3. With my first child I Ovulated CD24 and with my second CD17
I have had 4 miscarriages in the last 12 months. The last one in March/April which was the worst one. It messed me up was bleesing on and off every 10days. I have had 2 proper cycles and now on my 3rd. But the O day and my cycle length is getting shorter. Last cycle it O was CD16 and this cycle I got a positive OPK on CD13 so FF says Ovulation can occur CD13-15. This is abnormal for me. Never ever had it this short. Also my last 2 periods were shorter then normal I usualoy bleed full flow for 8days then spotting 2 days. My normal all my life. But last 2 cycles I had a 7 day bleed then done and then 5day bleed then 2 days spotting.
I am so worried the past miscarriage meased me up and / or perimenpause.
Anyone had any similar experinces or any advice. I have been BBT tracking with FF for 3 years. My cycles usually regular one off funny cycle but otherwise always been a 32 - 35 day cycle person with a later Ovulation.

This happened to me in my late thirties, and I read it's normal for your cycle to shorten around then. Not related to having miscarriages.
I ovulated on around CD18 all my life, but around age 38 it first became CD14 and then eventually settled on CD12. It did not stop me conceiving and carrying another baby.

ETA it made conceiving quicker actually, as shorter cycles = more chances!

Thank you that's reassuring. The only thing that still bothers me is the recurrent miscarriages very early on so many in a year. Wondering if that is related.

Agree shorter cycles means less waiting to try again. So will have to adjust TTC times.

I also had recurrent miscarriages in late thirties, having never had them in mid thirties. I think you just have less viable eggs and more 'dud' eggs (and sperm unless your partner is younger than you). Most of the things that cause recurrent miscarriage don't just pop up from nowhere in a couple of years, so assuming your other children were quite recent your recurrent miscarriages are likely to be bad luck due to lower egg/sperm quality than have an actual medical cause iyswim. A midwife told me this. It doesn't mean you can absolutely rule it out, but egg quality is the most likely. You just have to wait for a good egg to come along unfortunately!

Thank you for the reassurance.
My boys are 4 and 23months old.
The last miscarriage coincided with weaning and wondered if the prolactin and manic hormones was related to it. Will never know but it was horrible Drs were pretty insensitive and told me my you gest is too young for me to TTC again and atill a baby. So unprofessional and their opinions should be kept to themselves. I would underatand if it was 6months p/p but my youngest was 19months old when the last one happened.

Thank you I am doing my best to keep healthy and help the egg qualiry and Sperm quality. We are taking CoQ10 at 200mg, Vit D high dosage, Vit C, Omega 3s, Methafolate amd B12 and DH takes Maca Root. We started this in June 2025.

My cycles got alot shorter and ovulation started occuring sooner . Im 40. It didnt seem to affect me getting pregnant as im currently 21 weeks although i did have 3 loses in the 6 months prior to this

MixedBananas · 07/07/2026 16:16

@VioIetMoon so sorry for your losses and congrats on the pregnancy happy and healthy 9 months! Well your half way there.

How short were your cycles and what day did O use to occur. How long after the last Miscarriage did it take for you to fall pregnant again. Wondering if my body is still messed up as the miscarriage was not long ago.
Thank you
