Just looking for personal experiences of managing a MMC and how things went after. Just found out baby’s HB has stopped so I’m going to go down the medical management route, how did people find this & the recovery time? Just also wondering how long it took for cycles to get back to ‘normal’ again? Thanks

Hello! Firstly im so sorry to hear this, sending you lots of love.
I had an MMC in March, I found out at 8 weeks there was no longer a heartbeat. I decided to try the pessaries they give you, and I had to take a test after 3 weeks to see if I still had HCG in my system, which unfortunately I did, so I had to have a D&C which I was booked into the day after I went back to the EPU. Recovery time was minimal and honestly after the surgery I was in zero pain physically, make sure you rest alot, enjoy your favourite snacks and look after yourself. My cycles went back to normal almost instantly after ❤

I’ve done expectant management and surgical with an MVA. Having the MVA meant less waiting around and back to normal quicker. I did have some pain but with pain relief it was ok. Cycle was back to normal really quickly.

Im so sorry xxx it is a very heartbreaking time. Personally I went for surgical management, I was just so heartbroken I just wanted to be knocked out and wake up and it be over. Cycles returned to normal very quickly and I would imagine it will be the same after the medical management from what I had read at the time. I dont think there is any right decision it is all personal, and none of it feels right. I did take the medication they give for medical management before the procedure as standard and bleeding had started before I went down. I had heavy cramps but nothing that pain meds couldn't sort. Sending you a hug x
