Bleeding after miscarriage HELP

Just looking for other people’s experiences while I wait for the EPU to get back to me with an appointment.

I had a mmc in April and had surgery 6 weeks ago. After the surgery I had spotting for 3 weeks, then a week later I had my period which was shorter than usual (around 4 days instead of my usual 7). I’m now on cd16 however since my period I’ve had brown and light pink spotting on and off, mainly when wiping. Has anyone had this without having any issues like infection or RPOC? I’m really worried about there being something wrong. However, my spotting completely stopped between my miscarriage bleeding and my period coming so I’m hoping it’s maybe just hormonal

Hi I had this with one of my miscarriages. After 3 months I went to the GP who said it’s hormonal and my body settling down. It lasted around 6 months on and off.

I have had exactly the same apart from I had to have surgery twice as I had retained product. They scanned after the second and said there was definitely no more retained product so I'm hoping it's just hormones. I'm currently on cd14 after first period and still spotting, just hoping it won't affect conceiving again.

Thank you for this, can I ask what symptoms you had when you had retained product? My spotting has turned into intermittent gushed of fresh blood so now I’m more concerned.

I was still bleeding 3 weeks after surgery, more than spotting though. I had a negative pregnancy test though so they said I could just wait until my period to see if it came out but I opted for surgery as wanted to be sure.
I've now ovulated and the spotting stopped a couple of days before this.
If you are bleeding more heavily maybe worth getting scanned.

This sounds like RPOC to me.

I have confirmed RPOC and am waiting to get my period to see if it passes naturally. In the first four weeks after the initial procedure I had on off red bleeding, the last two weeks have been brown spotting and now it seems to have stopped completely. I'm pretty sure I haven't passed the RPOC yet so even if you're not bleeding it can still be there.

Hi,
Yes you’re right it is RPOC. I had a scan and it’s such a tiny amount (like a grain of rice). I’m really unsure of how to proceed. I’m inclined to avoid another surgery but I’ve already had my first period so I don’t know if it would realistically pass naturally at this point.

Is your pregnancy test still positive? If you're still bleeding then even though it's small it's causing symptoms so it probably shouldn't be left indefinitely. I had one bleed which I think was a period (although the RPOC made it very stop start) and I'm now waiting for one more period to give it a last chance to clear and after that idk, I guess it'll be surgery again. I'm pretty resigned to it as this is the 4th time my uterus has retained either products or placenta. Really not looking forward to it though.

Im going through the same thing, im 9 weeks post miscarriage, i didnt have surgery but did the medical manegment. I had a week of heavy bleeding then it stopped, but ive had the spotting you described ever since, also faint positives on tests too. So frustrating as ttc, im ovulating ( i think ) Ive had a period that was very heavy and passed a few clots, so was hoping that would be it, but it seems not. Think im gonna have to call EPU.

I ended up having a second d&c on Monday as there was a small amount of retained products left after my period and they wouldn't fit an IUD without first repeating the D&C.
