Can this be actual potential ovulation for first time in 5 years? Positive OPK or pcos playing games

So I’ve never actually had a positive ovulation test ever, I’ve had the control line always darker than the test line nor have I had predictable cycles. I was getting a lot of cm over the last 2 days, but it was watery, something I’ve never experienced for more than a day. I tested ovulation yday but the test line was barely dark. I tested again this morning and to my surprise the test line was almost as dark at the control line (first pic), I then tested again around 12pm and the test line literally came up straight away, after 3-4 mins, it looked just as dark as the test line, if not darker ( 2nd pic) I tested again at 3pm and this time its an actual dye stealer! (Third pic)

I’m hoping to start medicated letrozole cycle soon, and was putting it off to see if I could lose more weight and see if body does anything, it’s been over 3 months since I’ve had a Provera induced cycle and was gearing up to take it again this week as did not want to risk going into danger zone. I’ve read people say pcos can give false opks, however I personally have never had the test line as dark the control line , ever! Alongside the wet/watery clear discharge and lower pelvic/abdomen aches ( which tbf can be my bowel gas as I’m forever constipated🙈). I logged the test onto pre mom and it read it as a 1.01 and then at 2.04 with the dye stealer.I’ve never logged anything higher than 0.76. Don’t want to get my hopes up but I hope at the very least I have my first ever natural ovulatory cycle. No natural periods since literally 2020!

I did start mounjaro last September 2025, came of it and back in couple of times and didn’t pass 5mg. I lost a total of 12 kg which tbf is much lower than numbers I’ve seen online but the difference In my body was there. I never had a natural period or surprise pregnancy on it. I came off it April and then went back on it on it for May at 2.5mg. I decided to come off it to give myself the washout period needed before proceeding onto letrozole. But Yh, wanted to know if anyone’s had something similar? Could the sensations I’m alongside the positive test be actual ovulation? I really don’t want to get hopes up as from what I’ve read it can also be pcos playing games.

Annnyyyyyy stories of previously no ovulating cycles with first ever positive opk would be soooo helpful. Does a 2.4 reading on pre mom have a good chance of actual ovulation or is it high due to pcos/pmos hormones 😭

that's definitely positive, darker than I have ever had! I also have PCOS and went a long time without periods and even longer without ovulating. I think if you have never had a positive OPK before it's very unlikely to be false. If you aren't already tracking BBT I really recommend that as its really useful to confirm ovulation which will then give you more information for future cycles.

Also I know this is not what you're asking but I wondered if you've tried myo-inositol? I was halfway down the path towards medicated cycles but I found that after a couple of months of myo-inositol my cycle miraculously fell into line and I managed to get my bfp

Ahh thanks for the reply! Is it not too late to start tracking temp? I bought a thermometer yesterday which should be arriving today but now idea what my base temp is. Just strange that it’s happening so randomly! Im testing again today and its still quite high, similar to the dye stealer pic, I thought it would have dropped by now which is why im hesitant in being hopeful incase I haven’t fully reached ovulation. This is deffo my lack of knowledge around this topic talking smh.

i have indeed tried myo-inositol on and off for a couple of years. My first time using it consistently I was getting bleeds but nothing consistent and they would last over 10-12 days with massive clots ( no ovulation either). I tried to restart the myova myoinositol plus a couple of months back but after 2 weeks I gave up- the pills were just massive and didn’t want to spend more money buying the powders again.

i guess if I don’t get a period this month/get pregnant I would consider restarting. I also have metformin hanging around which I was advised to take by both my gp and private clinic but just doesn’t agree with me ( even the extended release)

yes it probably is too late to definitely confirm ovulation this time with BBT, although I tend to have quite a slow rise so for me I would probably be able to be relatively certain.

The other thing is that in my understanding any PCOS cycle funkiness only really affects the pre-ovulation part of the cycle. So you can go months with no period and no ovulation but then once you ovulate you are basically guaranteed a period in approximately two weeks. You can have a period (or a bleed) without ovulation but not vice versa. I'm not a doctor though! but that certainly seems to be true for me. So hopefully in a few weeks you will know for sure.

If you've already tried myo-inositol then of course you know what's best for you I just thought I'd mention it as for me it really was a miracle. Everyone is so different though.

Good luck anyway and I'm always happy to chat 😊 x
