School uniforms

Has anyone else noticed how many school uniforms are made from polyester now?
My child gets really hot and uncomfortable in synthetic fabrics, especially during the summer. I was looking for more cotton options and was surprised how difficult they were to find.
Do your children notice the difference, or do most not mind?

Let me guess, you have a website the sells cotton uniforms?

😂 Haha, no crime committed! Just genuinely curious whether other parents have noticed the same thing.

They were polyester when I started school in the late 80s. There’s no “these days” about it.
Things are enshittified enough without us viewing the past through rose tinted specs.

My bog standard 70’s Comp had horrible black polyester blazers and poly mix shirts. Even in 1976! 🥵

Fair point! They’ve been around for decades. Maybe it’s time for an upgrade.

Poly cotton requires less ironing - I’m a lazy laundry person! My dc wore poly cotton blouses throughout school without issue in heat

Our school dresses were cotton and I LOVED them. The rest is the year I was in tights (hello eczema!) and polyester skirts and shirts (winter heat rash - what a treat!).

A polyester blazer washes in 30 mins and dries in a couple of hours if hung up. Wool blazers of yesteryear got cleaned about once a year, they stank, everybody stank, yes even worse than now!! Also very expensive .
I wore a blazer in the 70s and it was polyester . They are cheap and practical .

It annoys me as I try to avoid polyester for both myself and DC. I have found some mostly cotton trousers at M&S and Next and ordered some to try.
