George or Henry?

I much prefer Henry, not sure why I just don’t love the name George.

Sherararara · 04/07/2026 10:40

Either.

DeeNiall · 04/07/2026 11:01

OP has a son called Leo, and possibly one called Henry.
The names she's considered are Henry, Max or George.

How many threads are you going to start? Do you have a baby called Henry and want to change his name?

Aren’t I allowed to post for reasons of my own?

Both common, and awful sounding. So many nicer names out there op.
ps I still like Max..

Gardenisablooming · 04/07/2026 11:26

My dcat is Henry. Outstanding name.

Of course you are but it looks like there might be more to it.
The names you suggested are all OK.

Max probably goes best with Leo, but it might not go with the surname, which you said on one of your other threads starts with S.

George and Henry are both very popular. Both will remain popular for quite some time I expect.

LlynTegid · 04/07/2026 11:54

George would be my choice of the two.

Namesnamesnames13 · 04/07/2026 13:05

More to it? It’s not that sinister!

It's a pattern of opening threads that suggested 'Name regret', which can be linked to PPD.

EnidVance · 04/07/2026 14:10

I know so many Georges it’s just got a bit dull.

Namesnamesnames13 · 04/07/2026 14:31

I think choosing a name is quite a big thing….

I love George but it’s much rarer here in Ireland than it is in the UK. It was ranked 112 in 2025.

Teawaster · 04/07/2026 15:33

I have a Henry George so obviously like both

CookieDoughJoe · 04/07/2026 15:56

Henry by far.

Velumental · 04/07/2026 17:05

So neither are for me, they are very English however I really dislike the name Henry and for some reason really love the name George, it just sounds very cuddly and lovely. I briefly had a puppy called George (my mum's dog had puppies, we called one George until he went to his new home) so of those is vote george

CoffeeChocolateWine · 04/07/2026 17:44

Really not a fan of Henry…I find it a bit wet. George is better but still not a nice name to my ears. Max I love so much I used it for my DS ❤️

Me too!

I find George a particularly lumpen and unattractive name - which is odd, as I generally like very traditional names.

Henry is great.

LancashireButterPie · 04/07/2026 19:41

Henry

SpottyAlpaca · 04/07/2026 19:45

Both are about as classic & sensible as names get, so it makes little difference which you choose. Which sounds better with your family name?

Helenbelena · 05/07/2026 06:45

Both are boring and unmemorable.

midlifeattheoasis · 05/07/2026 10:53

I really love George and wished I’d called one of mine George. I do however, have a Henry !

user293948849167 · 05/07/2026 12:15

I prefer Henry, less stuffy than George

Firebird83 · 05/07/2026 19:20

I used Henry as a middle name and a second DS would have been George (but we had a DD). Love both!

TheOpalMoose · 07/07/2026 18:02

I love Henry, or Hen. I really dislike Max, though—I can't help but think of Pepsi Max! It's also really common where I live. But it depends where you live. George is also nice.
