Are there any K names that are not tacky?

Are there any feminine K names that are more traditional and old-fashioned? I really dislike modern and trendy sounding names. I also dislike C names that have recently been turned into K names. The Kylie, Kaylee, Kadence, Kallie, Kinley, Kaitlyn, Krystal, Karly, Khloe, Kenzie type of names are not for me. They're all very similar in style to me, and I just find them to be tacky. They also feel very mean girl/bully. (This won't make sense to everyone, but I'm sure some will know what I mean.)

An example of a name that I do like is Katherine, but there are simply too many in the family. I also like just plain Kay, but it seems a bit underwhelming as a first name. It's more often a middle name and shortening of other K names. Karen is no longer a possibility for obvious reasons...

Another vote for Kathleen. We have one in the family. Kate, Katherine and Kirsty are also nice.

Katharine / Katherine

Another vote for this. The K spelling was by far the most common in the Tudor period - Katherine Parr, for instance, spelled her name with a K. Princess Elizabeth, later Elizabeth I, gave her a book with the monogram KP embroidered on the cover.

I see lots of PP suggesting Katherine/Kathryn. The OP has already said that she likes Katherine but cannot use it.

I quite like Kerry and Kirsty. Maybe Kate, which I would normally say ought to be short for Katherine, but if you feel there are too many Katherines in the family already the shorter version might be your best bet.

Why does everyone misspell Kiera (proper spelling) as "Keira"? That would put me off that name completely!

SleepingStandingUp · 12/06/2026 13:32

the names you mention as are very different. perhaps the letter just isn't for you?

Kelsey, Kari and Kaia.

Mangelwurzelfortea · 12/06/2026 13:33

Kate is a good name.

YouPromisedToStopPosting · 12/06/2026 13:35

Why does the name have to begin with K? It seems pretty limiting.

But assuming you are set on K names:

Kirsty
Kitt
Kiara
Kaia
Kerenza
Katia
Kara

Love Kara because of Kara Thrace in Battlestar Galactica who was played by Katee (another K name) Sackhoff

It could be the Keira Knightley effect and/or the Keir Starmer effect. 😅😂

PublicHare · 12/06/2026 13:38

Love Kizzy!

Laura95167 · 12/06/2026 13:38

Katherine, Katie, Kara, Keira, Kimberly, Kristen, Katrina, Kathleen, Kelly... probably loads of lovely K names
