Girls names that go with Charlotte?

Rockyroad1992 · 02/06/2026 20:23

Hi all,
We have just found out that we are expecting baby number 2 so starting to think of names.

We already have a Charlotte. For a boy we are agreed on Henry but we are struggling to agree on a girls name that we both love. I do like traditional names, but have removed Emma and Emily from the shortlist as I don’t like them enough.

Ideas so far:
Eve (love this one)
Lily (overdone but very sweet)
Georgina
Elizabeth/Eliza
Lucy
Alice
Katherine (like this but worry it’s a bit too royal paired with Charlotte!)

Any thoughts/suggestions are welcome :)

Also love Isobel, although I don’t want her to spend her life correcting the spelling of her name. Feel like it is lulling in popularity as well.

If you pick Georgina you could have a Louis or Louisa next time to match George, Charlotte and Louis 😊

You need a longer name.

Do you call your Charlotte just that or do you shorten it (Charlie/ Lottie/ Charl)?

Starting to agree re the longer name. She is Charlotte, we don’t shorten it :)

Eve, definitely. It needs to be a one syllable name I think, it flows a lot better.

Charlotte Eve is very nice indeed.

Anne could work too.

pinkgown · 02/06/2026 23:56

Lavinia Rose
I had an aunt and a great-aunt named this 🙂.

Els1e · 02/06/2026 23:57

Tabitha. Can be shorten to Tilly or similar. Is unusual but not so way out it's just weird.

LivingTheDreamish · 03/06/2026 05:38

I like Isobel with Charlotte. I wouldn't worry about the spelling too much. I also like Eve and don't think it matters that it's shorter.

I was going to say I prefer Georgia (to Georgina) but it's a bit American alongside Charlotte.

Rockyroad1992 · 03/06/2026 08:04

Thanks all for the suggestions, I also like Vivienne but not sure if it’s a bit out there compared to the other names I like.

Vivienne really matches the elegance of the name Charlotte I think!
I also love Josephine (Josie)
Both are well known names, but not too common

puddingandsun · 03/06/2026 13:50

Not sure these are traditional enough but -
Leticia
Henrietta

From all the lovely names already suggested Harriet is my favourite.

Did you actually read the post? They already have a Charlotte. She’s not looking for a middle name to go with it

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 03/06/2026 20:46

I think Eve, Alice or Elizabeth from your list and I've always thought Charlotte and Florence go well together.

Other sisters of Charlottes I have known:

Julia
Victoria
Sophie
Corinne

What would Jane (Austen) do?
Charlotte Lucas was an intelligent and pragmatic woman.
Her best friend was Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bennett, whose sisters were Jane, Mary, Kitty (Katherine) and Lydia.
Other Austen heroines (so all will fit):
Elinor
Marianne
Anne
Georgiana
Frances (Fanny)
Catherine
Caroline
Emma

There are many more, but they read well as a set.
