Baby will be here in less than a month & I'm still not 100% on our name choices. Don't know what we are having so need a boys name & girls name.

Boys names we like:

Wilfred
Wilbur
Frederick
Henry
Joseph
Edmund
Hugo
Humphrey

Girls names we like:

Penelope
Elspeth
Florence
Edith
Clementine
Elowen
Evelyn
Matilda

What other names might we like if we like these lists? Thanks

As someone with 5 adult children who plays no part in the naming of my grandchildren I have far too many opinions!

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, some really nice ones on the lists.

@Floppyearedlab sorry if I wasn't clear, the names I've suggested we love, just not 100% sure, so not looking for people's opinions on them, not fussed whether other people like them, just wanted some more suggestions of a similar vibe. Thanks for the extra suggestions though.

Not Humphrey!

NamingNoNames · 07/05/2026 09:55

i like Humphrey. It's distinguished and a bit different.

Humphrey Bogart, Sir Humphrey Appleby, Humphrey Lyttleton.

bridgetreilly · 07/05/2026 10:19

Humphrey is lovely. All squashy and silly and fun.

Crew20 · 07/05/2026 10:45

I think you’ve got all my DC names and middle names either on your list or suggested by others!

in addition:
Alice

Jemima
Olivia

Charles
Jude
Inigo
Ivo

I love Wilbur so much. I vote for Wilbur.
Or Florence, if it's a girl. You've got lovely names on your list! I'd just look at baby when they arrive and see which one they suit.

Alternative suggestions;

Cedric
Walter
Theodore

Sybil
Agnes

Ottilie

Out of interest if you choose Elowen will you be using the traditional Cornish pronunciation or the more popularised pronunciation? If the latter I prefer Elowyn as a spelling.

HighburyHope · 14/05/2026 17:30

How about:

Guy, Jonas, Laurence

Eloise, Honor, Martha

GladHazelPoster · 14/06/2026 10:55

Cornelius is the one you want. You can thank me later.

Edmund maybe but I think Cornelius beats it.
