What does the name Candice suggest about a child's background/parents?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AverageMummy · 16/06/2019 14:47

I wouldn’t want to say - sorry.

Sux2buthen · 16/06/2019 14:48

Nothing at all. No name does.
It's a totally inoffensive name
People's reactions say things about themselves though

challengeyourreality · 16/06/2019 14:57

That would be something negative then @AverageMummy

PCohle · 16/06/2019 15:06

Sounds like candida. It's fine though.

BarryBarryTaylor · 16/06/2019 16:50

I don’t like it, it would make me think of an awful relative of mine who has that name.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 16/06/2019 16:52

Not a fan of the name but no idea what the background implies

Sittinonthefloor · 16/06/2019 16:53

It’s not a smart name if that’s what you mean. I would picture parents as trying to be ‘posher’ than they really are and getting it wrong, sorry! Either that or American.

Sittinonthefloor · 16/06/2019 16:54

Ps my reaction does indeed show as a pp implied that I’m a snob, so I supposed it depends if that bothers you!

Loopytiles · 16/06/2019 17:01

Makes me think of Candice Bushnell (?) the sex&city writer, candida, angelica from rugrats and verucca salt!

carmenbea · 16/06/2019 17:02

I like it and I like Cadence too. I know a 12 yo Candice and she's not a "chav" as people above are trying to imply

Chinchillaa · 16/06/2019 17:04

The only one I knew was from a chavvy family. I think you can pull it off though

Ohyesiam · 16/06/2019 17:05

That they are American?

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/06/2019 17:07

I imagine a sort of bimbo hairdresser, big blonde hair and a short skirt. Sorry I know that’s terrible profiling but that is my first image.

AverageMummy · 16/06/2019 17:16

@challengeyourreality yes sorry. I wouldn’t treat someone different as a result but yes.

Although strangely I like Cadence.

NameChangedNoImagination · 16/06/2019 17:17

I love it and wouldn't have any class associations at all.

Antonin · 16/06/2019 17:48

With a nn of Candy I’m aid I find i sickly sweet

Antonin · 16/06/2019 17:49
  • I’m afraid that should say
RomanyQueen · 16/06/2019 17:50

It's a porn stars name Grin
Several iirc. Go ahead she'll be really pleased with you.

LoeweHammock · 16/06/2019 17:54

Awful. I'm in Ireland and if I heard one I'd assume the parents were more aware of American social media and celebrity than their own culture/history.

Also candy sounds like a fake porn
name

HoustonBess · 16/06/2019 17:57

I'd be confused if it was cand-is or cand-ees

No real associations with it

GummyGoddess · 16/06/2019 17:58

I'm not sure what I would think of her parents, but I really dislike the name and can't articulate why. As pp said, I like cadence though.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 16/06/2019 17:58

I like it - reminds me of coconut ice sweets.

TantricTwist · 16/06/2019 18:01

Sounds like a stripper. Not a well thought out name at all.

Although I do like Candice from GBBO and never associated her name with a stripper, but it is a strippers name.

FriarTuck · 16/06/2019 18:01

Reminds me of that Bake Off contestant with the lipstick. I'd judge - not thinking that the parents were chavvy or anything, but inwardly just because I couldn't stand her.

Tillygetsit · 16/06/2019 22:49

I dont like it much. Sounds a bit 90s and in the Shanice Denise vibe. Sorry.
